Tell Us What You Think

Hi There-
I just read the Projo article covering last night's Undebate. Sounds like it was a succesful evening for the Uncacus and for the many RI residetns who attended. It appeared as if the candidtates truly listened (excpet for Young), and I can only hope they continue to listen now that it's the next day and the Undebate is over. I hope they keep in mind that this job they are running for is for the people of RI and nothing else. Nice job, and best of luck going forward!

Hi all -

I've tried texting questions twice - tonight and Saturday - and got an error message both times. My comment/question for the event: Providence needs to nail the basics - potholes, parks, libraries, public safety, transportation and, most importantly, SCHOOLS. What would the candidates do, short and long term, to improve basic services and how would they involve residents in these efforts?

I just read Melissa's piece about her emails with Craig Newmark (Craigslist founder), and also his blog talking up the Uncacous. Great stuff! Being a non-techy myself (Yes, I can work my cell phone, email and Facebook just fine, but do not tweet, blog, etc), learning about the innovative technologies Withers and her crew have put into practice in order to engage the many residents in RI who also don't talk tech, is quite impressive. And they haven't spent thousands of dollars to it either, but a couple hundred. Literally, $200.

This kind of forward thinking and the want to engage all RI residents, only further confirms the idea the group is trying to convey on a state-wide level: that this movement is not just about the young, hip "geeks" of the state trying to be heard for the sake of shaking things up in a traditional, political scene--in a historically traditional city--but that they are reaching out to everyone to be more actively engaged in the politics in their own back yards, regardless of what generation they were born into. Period.  What can I say? I like it!

I won't be able to attend the first undebate so if anyone could ask what the candidates plans are for holding developers and landowners responsible for unauthorized demolition, demolition through neglect, or simply following the letter of their tax agreements I would be much obliged.

I am disheartened by the list of "politicians" currently vying to be our next mayor.  I look forward to working with the Uncaucus to instead find a candidate truly motivated by "public service".

And, our job does not end on election day. We need to stay engaged, informed and active. It's too easy to turn our backs on an elected official when they make a decision we don't like or agree with.  I hope we can all continue to support the new mayor through their tough choices and ensure that after four years we still have someone motivated by public service and not politics.

Dear Uncaucus:

Although I'm no longer living in RI, I was born and raised and I think what this group is doing with the current political scene in RI is fanstastic. It's exactly what our generation (and younger) needs right now--to be actively engaged and to give a darn about who gets voted into important political offices. I love it, and wish you all the best (and the rest of RI...hope they are listening and paying attention to your message).
